Frequently asked questions
Below are the questions we hear most often. If your question isn't here, reach out — we're happy to answer.
Who are your groups for?
We have groups for first-time moms, second- and third-time moms, parents of toddlers (Snack Club), and anyone navigating feeding (Feeding Circle). Each group is small, led by a therapist, and grouped by stage so the moms in your group are in a similar season as you.
Can I bring my baby to a group?
Yes — for First Time Moms Club, Second Time Moms Club, and the Feeding Circle, please bring your baby. Our space is set up for breastfeeding, bottle-feeding, diaper changes, and all that comes up during early motherhood. Snack Club is the exception — it meets after bedtime and is intentionally a space just for the moms.
How much do the groups cost?
First Time Moms Club and Second Time Moms Club run are typically $385 for a 6-week cohort. Snack Club is about $70 per group. The Beehive Feeding Circle is free. We also have some sliding scale space available for groups if that is something you need — reach out and we can discuss this more!
What ages are the babies in the groups?
First Time Moms Club and Second Time Moms Club are for moms with babies 0–4 months. Snack Club is for moms of toddlers (roughly ages 1–4). The Feeding Circle is open to anyone with a baby of any age — newborn through weaning.
What's the difference between Snack Club and the other groups?
First Time Moms Club and Second Time Moms Club are 6-week cohort groups for moms with newborns — same group of moms every week, structured conversations, babies welcome. Snack Club is a once-a-month evening group for toddler moms — kids stay home. They serve different seasons of motherhood and have different rhythms.
Is the Feeding Circle really free?
Yes. The Feeding Circle is a free, drop-in support group with a board-certified lactation consultant. We made it free because feeding support is one of the most-needed and least-accessible services for new parents. There's no insurance to navigate, just support.
Can my partner attend?
Our groups are mom-only spaces — they're designed to be a place moms can open up about their experiences together with other moms. We hold special events for families, so reach out if you’re interested in something like this!
What should I bring to a group?
Yourself, your baby, and whatever you'd normally bring on an outing — diaper bag, bottle, snacks for you. We have water, extra wipes and diapers, a couch, nursing pillows, and space to breastfeed or bottle-feed comfortably.
How is this different from a free hospital-led mom group?
Hospital-led mom groups are wonderful, and many of our group members have attended them too. One difference is that our groups are led by a licensed therapist, which means when something hard comes up — postpartum anxiety, birth trauma, marriage strain — there's someone in the room trained to hold it. Our groups are also smaller and with the goal that real friendships form. Everyone joins a group chat, often meets for coffee after the group, and hangs out at other times during the week.
Do you offer evening or weekend groups?
Snack Club meets in the evening, after bedtime. Our 6-week cohort groups (First Time Moms Club, Second Time Moms Club) currently meet during weekday daytime hours — designed for parents on parental leave. The Feeding Circle is on a weekend morning. If you're a working mom and want to know whether something can work for your schedule, reach out — we're always thinking about this and may have new options.
What kinds of areas does Marah see in therapy?
Marah specializes in perinatal mental health — pregnancy, postpartum, the early years of motherhood. Common reasons clients come to her include postpartum depression and anxiety, birth trauma, NICU stays, pregnancy loss and grief, fertility challenges, identity changes around becoming a parent, and the slow work of figuring out who you're becoming. She also works with people with anxiety and going through life transitions more broadly.
Does Marah prescribe medication?
No — as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, prescribing isn't part of her scope of practice. If you're working with her and decide medication might be helpful, she'll refer you to a psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner she trusts and coordinate care.
Does Marah take insurance?
Marah is an out-of-network provider, which means she doesn't bill insurance directly. After each session, she can provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Most PPO plans offer some out-of-network mental health coverage. For details on what your specific plan covers, call the member services number on the back of your insurance card and ask about out-of-network outpatient mental health benefits.
What's Marah's rate?
Marah's individual therapy rate is $250 for a 50-minute session.
What is the cancellation policy?
For groups, we understand it is normal to miss a group. If you or your little one aren’t feeling well, please stay home to help keep everyone healthy. Our groups are small and designed to be consistent, which helps create a safe and supportive space for everyone. Because of this, there are no refunds or make-up classes for missed sessions, even if you're out sick or traveling.
For individual therapy, we ask for 48 hours' notice for cancellations. Sessions canceled less than 48 hours in advance are charged at the full rate, with the exception of genuine emergencies, which we always work with on a case-by-case basis. Babies who get sick at 11pm count as emergencies — we’re parents too.
Where are you located?
We're at 635 Massachusetts Ave, Suite 14, in the heart of Arlington Center, on the second floor. We're right next to Tatte Bakery. There's metered street parking on Mass Ave and a parking lot behind the building. The 77 bus stops directly outside.
Do you offer online therapy or online groups?
Marah offers individual therapy online for clients in Massachusetts, New York, and Washington DC. Our community groups are in-person only — being in the room together is a meaningful part of how the groups work.
