Individual therapy for new and expecting moms
I work with new and expecting moms one-on-one, in addition to running our community groups. Therapy is more individualized — the place to talk through what's going on for you beyond a group.
About Marah
I'm Marah Pinnolis, LICSW, MEd, PMH-C. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Counselor, and the founder of Beehive Moms. I see clients individually for therapy in Arlington, MA, and online for clients living in Massachusetts, New York, and Washington DC.
I trained at Boston University, where I earned both my Master of Social Work and Master of Education. My perinatal training is through Postpartum Support International. I work as a holistic therapist, drawing from relational, attachment-based, psychodynamic, somatic, mindfulness-based, and CBT frameworks depending on what each person needs.
What I work with
Most of my clients come to me during the perinatal period — which spans pregnancy, the postpartum year, and the early years of motherhood. Common reasons include:
Postpartum depression and anxiety
Antenatal anxiety and depression (during pregnancy)
Birth trauma
NICU stays and medical complications
Pregnancy loss and grief
Fertility challenges
Identity changes — what shifts when you become a mom, or when you become the mom of two, or three
Relationship strain — with partners, parents, friends, and your changing self
The slow, layered work of figuring out who you're becoming
How I work
Sessions are 50 minutes. Most clients come weekly to start, and we revisit the frequency of sessions as we go.
Rates and insurance
My rate is $250 for a 50-minute session. I'm an out-of-network provider, which means I don't bill insurance directly, but most PPO plans offer some reimbursement for out-of-network mental health care. After each session, I provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance.
How to start
The best way to figure out whether we'd be a good fit is a free 15-minute consultation call. Reach out and we'll set one up.
Therapy alongside community
Some clients work with me individually, attend a Beehive Moms group, or both. There's no one way to do this — it depends on what kind of support feels most useful for you. Many moms find that group and individual therapy do different and complementary work.
